Serious pornography addiction is something millions and millions of men are currently dealing with. Many of these men know their addiction has gotten out of hand and yet they cannot seem to find a way to break the shackles of pornography.

My guest today has worked with thousands of men over the last 4 years to finally overcome their destructive addiction once and for all. His name is Sathiya Sam and today we talk about the three greatest obstacles to overcoming addiction, how viewing pornography is often a symptom of a deeper problem, why safety, intimacy, and significance lie at the root of this addiction, why traditional methods of overcoming pornography don’t work, and 3 pillars every man needs to establish if he hopes to finally free himself from porn.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS:

  • The barrier to entry to watch porn is much lower today
  • Behavior changes that indicate an addiction
  • How unmet needs can lead to viewing pornography
  • Usually the side effects of masturbation are more negative than positive
  • Negatively rewiring the brain through watching porn
  • The downside of counting streaks
  • Ability to focus and sit in silence is a super power in todays society
  • The importance of having a trusted person
  • Using journaling and reflection to understand your thoughts and feelings
  • Confession to yourself and others is an important step

Psychological safety. It’s not something that we think a whole lot about even though we talk a lot about a man’s innate desire to protect those he’s closest to. But when it comes to the mental and emotional security of our loved ones, we often fall short.

With as much craziness and violence we see in public these days, it’s crucial that we as men learn how to effectively protect and defend ourselves and those we love. Fortunately, with a little intentionality and planning it’s not all that difficult to keep ourselves and others safe.

Today, I’m joined by Former Navy SEAL, FBI Agent, and Federal Air Marshall, Jonathan Gilliam to talk about how to do just that. We cover the concept of preparation versus paranoia, the default of awareness, when to get involved in situations and when not to, the “crawl, walk, run” theory, and recognizing and neutralizing threats before they occur.

Anytime you mention the word, “politics,” you know you’re in for a charged and polarizing conversation but it’s crucial we talk more about politics and the policy that comes with it because it impacts every facet of our lives.

My guest today, Congressman Dan Crenshaw, joins me to talk about the key issues impacting culture and society today including a healthy approach to reaching across the aisle, why it’s important for conservatives to have a voice in what we typically view as liberal issues, not only the far left but the far right – something he calls, “woke conservatism,” the importance of humility and open-mindedness, and distinguishing between politics and policy.
