You may not have been blessed with strength, smarts, good looks, wealth, or connections. But none of that matters. What matters is that you have 100% control over your level of discipline. And, discipline is the great equalizer.

Gentlemen, I've got a bit of a different one lined up for you today as I have a conversation with the very first fictional author we've had on the podcast. His name is Jack Carr and he is the author of The Terminal List (which is an incredible book) and his upcoming book, True Believer.

Jack is a former Navy SEAL turned fictional writer and today we discuss his transition from the military, the inspiration for his series of books, an inside look at the writing process, the amount of research goes into creating this type of work, and a whole lot more.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • Transitioning out of the military
  • Why Jack left the SEALs
  • Finding inspiration for writing
  • An inside look at the writing process
  • The level of research that goes into writing and how to do it
  • How to network with those in the industry you're trying to break into
  • Why Jack always wanted to be a writer
  • How to effectively and profitably pursue a passion

JACK CARR

Guys, it's my pleasure to introduce you to a friend of mine, Jack Carr. You know how there are just certain people that you know when you meet them are going to be great friends?

That's how I felt when Jack opened up his home to me and we had an incredibly powerful conversation (which you'll hear part of).

He is a former task unit commander in the Navy SEALS with over 20 years of experience leading assault and sniper teams in Iraq and Afghanistan (that's part of the reason his book is so realistic). As I mentioned before, he left the SEALs and has since gone on to fulfill a second childhood dream, becoming an author.

Most men are too consumed with the day-to-day minutiae to give themselves the margin needed to create a compelling vision and plan for the future. Today, I talk about how to create and execute a perfect plan for a better life moving forward.

Over the past several months, it's likely that you've seen more archery and bow hunting pictures and topics from me. That's because, for the last year, I've really begun to immerse myself in becoming better bow hunter.

That said, I've gotten so many requests and questions about archery that I thought it only made sense to bring the best person on I could think of to talk about it. His name is John Dudley and he is the founder of Nock On Archery. Today, we talk about what makes a natural archer, understanding the importance of eye dominance, why coaching is so critical, and the pros and cons of new technology.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

Introduction to the School of Nock
The pros and cons of social media
Why humility in coaching is critical
What Dudley means by "archery entertainment"
Why every archer needs to learn to be more present
How social media has opened up archery coaching
Why Dudley has always wanted to coach, and why his team didn't always want him to
What makes a natural archer
Why every archer needs to work on physical fitness
The importance of eye dominance in archery
When technology takes away from the sport of archery
How to create meaning and legacy through coaching
How John's restraint is his strength

JOHN DUDLEY

My guest today is a repeat guest and someone who I know a lot of you are already familiar with.

His name is John Dudley and he is the founder of Nock On Archery where he coaches archers and makes some of the best products on the market. He's coached guys like Joe Rogan, Andy Stumpf, Jocko Willink, and so many more, including me.

Yes, this is a conversation centered around archery but I want you to listen closely because John and I go so much deeper than what type of bow you should buy and what your stance should look like. This is truly a podcast about not only becoming a better archer/bow hunter but a better man.

We've come to a very sad and quite pathetic point where the so-called "victims" dictate the tone of the conversation and direction of society. Today, I tell you why we all ought to reject the trend and what we, as men, should be doing instead.

Pornography is something that all men have likely engaged in to some degree. What's fascinating is the debate that ensues whenever someone suggests that pornography is not good for men.

My guest today, JK Emezi, makes the case for why we ought to engage in pornography and masturbating less, how to overcome the urge to participate in these activities, how the temptation is only likely to get work, and how porn erodes and undermines masculinity.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • 3 reasons to quit porn
  • How love, duty, and fear can help you quit watching porn
  • How porn impacts sexual performance
  • How to best overcome the urge to watch porn
  • How the rise in robots and AI will only compound the problem
  • How to develop new coping skills
  • The biochemical imbalances of watching porn and masturbating
  • The five-step process for overcoming pornography addiction
  • Why self-imposed limitations are critical
  • Testosterone's role in a man's life
  • How to better utilize self-control
  • How to achieve true sexual satisfaction
  • Tips and activities for replacing the urge to engage in porn use
  • The technology you can use to help overcome your addiction

J.K EMEZI

My guest today is J.K Emezi.

He is a Sex and Pornography Addiction Coach and has been for the last 9 years and he specializes in helping men overcome porn, masturbation, and other sexually compulsive disorders.

This is a fascinating discussion with someone who is well qualified to address the sexual issues a lot of men deal with.

He's written for our site before and one of his articles happens to be one of the most controversial of ours to date as he covers a topic that a lot of men aren't comfortable in discussing and one that remains very polarizing to a lot of men.

David Gilmore said, "The real man gains renown by standing between his family and destruction, absorbing the blows of fate with equanimity."

The question then remains, are you adequately prepared to stand in front of your family when the wolf comes knocking at the door?
