  • What does it mean to be "nice"
  • How being overly nice is self-sabotaging
  • What the "guilt bubble" is and how to get out of it

  • How to liberate yourself
  • How to establish healthy boundaries
  • Learning to speak up
  • Why being selfish is not always a bad thing
  • How to choose and communicate your rules

Today, Kipp Sorensen and I talk about some deeper and more serious issues than we've addressed in the past like the myth of "Toxic Masculinity," addressing false rape allegations, current trends in society that impact both men and women, and, on a not-so-serious note, whether Batman is a superhero or not.

It's not a surprise to you that there is so much noise and nonsense that attempts to engage our focus and keep us distracted from the things that truly matter. He spent nearly a decade with the SEAL teams and served in three combat deployments, his most recent with Task Unit Bruiser in Ramadi under the command of Jocko Willink. There he served as point man, machine gunner and lead sniper for Delta Platoon opposite of Chris Kyle.

Upon return from Iraq, helped rebuild and enhance the SEAL training programs into the highly effective programs they are today. Since then, he has become a lead instructor with Echelon Front helping leaders and communities enhance their organizations and companies.

So many men believe that the terms purpose and profit are mutually exclusive - that for one to exist, the other can't. That just isn't the case. In fact, when you learn to align your purpose and passion with the ability to make a profit, you have a greater ability to impact the world in a positive way.

Today, I am joined by the founder of Black Rifle Coffee Company, Evan Hafer, to talk about how he's managed to build such a successful business around what was simply a passion project. We talk about the power of utilizing new media for marketing, finding and speaking to your tribe, sacrificing ego on the altar of business, and how to align purpose, passion, and profit.

How Black Rifle Coffee Company makes and utilizes viral videos
Why interactive marketing is crucial to a business' success
Evan's view on the competition

EVAN HAFER

My guest today is Evan Hafer and although you may not know his name, most of you listening are familiar with his company, Black Rifle Coffee Company.

He is a former member of the Special Forces and between his multiple combat deployments, he spent time honing his firearm and roasting skills.

When Evan left the service in 2015, he learned how to market and turn his second passion for roasting coffee into not only a fulltime business but a global coffee company that is recognized for their viral irreverent videos and marketing campaigns, and their incredible coffee.

Now, I will be the first to tell you that I don't drink coffee myself but when given the chance to connect with Evan, I couldn't pass him up as he's clearly on to something when it comes to building a movement and working to employ our nation's veterans.

Every man should live by a code, an operating system by which we will live his life. Without one, it's easy to get lost in the moment and conduct ourselves in a way that's incongruent with the way we view who we are.

Today, I talk about why a code is important, what should be included in your code, and how to write your own.

What does it mean to be a complete beast? This is a question my guest, Jack Donovan, attempts to answer in his latest book, appropriately titled, A More Complete Beast. There is a reason the title is likely to resonate with you, as a man. Each of us understands that we are both man and beast.

Today we cover so much about the subject of masculinity including why being a man has to be an intentional choice, the power of what he calls the "conquering eye," how to avoid becoming a victim of victims, and how each and every one of us can become a more complete beast.

  • Why you have to make an intentional choice to be a man
  • Why men are perceived as a threat to society
  • Why you should challenge yourself as a man
  • The four masculine tactical virtues - strength, courage, mastery, honor
  • Why some people try to redefine words to fit their narrative

  • Why it's important to define an honor code for yourself

  • Why there is no honor in being a victim, only in overcoming it
  • Why vulnerability is not as powerful as modern society would have you believe
  • Why masculinity is not a mask

JACK DONOVAN

Gentlemen, my guest today is a man a lot of you are familiar with and someone I've had on the podcast before.

His name is Jack Donovan and he is the author of several books on the subject of modernity and masculinity including The Way of Men, A Sky Without Eagles, Becoming a Barbarian, and his latest release, A More Complete Beast.

As you may know, Jack is a fascinating man and probably one you wouldn't expect to hear on this podcast (in fact, I made a joke about Jack, a pagan, and myself, a Mormon, walking into an ax-throwing bar just after this interview). That said, his views on the subject of manliness and masculinity, although controversial, resonate with so many of us because they're spot on and refreshing in a time when more and more of society has a hard time even discussing what it means to be a man.

One of the most common challenges among men is the relationship with their wife. It's not really all that surprising. Anytime two people come together with their own set of experiences, perspectives, upbringing, cultures, and backgrounds, there's bound to struggle.

Unfortunately, these differences lead to separation and divorce all too often. The union between a man and his wife is one of the most powerful relationships any man can strive to have which is why it must be fought for.

Today, I share 20 strategies (plus 1 bonus strategy) for winning with your wife.

It seems there's a growing trend of entitlement in society today. Everywhere you turn, people are demanding results they haven't earned - a minimum wage, job security, health insurance, happiness, a minimum standard of living, etc., etc., etc.

Then, they have the audacity to complain when they don't get exactly what they want. It's sickening, to say the least. Today, I share 5 simple strategies for overcoming the entitlement mentality and how to get more out of life.
