Many of us, as men, have ambitions to leave a legacy. What that legacy looks like varies from man to man but ultimately, we all have a desire to leave this world better than when we got here. And, legacy is something my guest, his father, and his father’s father know how to create.

Today, I’m joined by the President and CEO of Weatherby (American Firearms Manufacturer), Adam Weatherby. He is the grandson of the founder, Roy Weatherby. And, he recently took up the mantle as head of this 70-year-old, third-generation business. Today, we talk about what it took to create, how things evolve over generations, the power of storytelling, and how to create a generational business and legacy.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • The beginning of a legacy
  • Leveraging everything
  • A woman’s perspective
  • Manufacturing arms
  • Creating a prestigious brand
  • The value of marketing
  • Inspiring dreams
  • Balancing life
  • Taking on leadership
  • Cultural change

  • Relocating the business

ADAM WEATHERBY

Today,  I’m joined by my friend and the President of Weatherby, Adam Weatherby. I met Adam a couple of years ago through mutual friends at MTNOPS and, in getting to know him, and hearing more about the history of Weatherby and his vision for, I knew we needed to sit down for a conversation.

Adam started working at Weatherby more than 20 years ago in tech. support, warranty service, and sales and marketing before leaving after four years to pursue his ambitions to become a pastor. He returned to Weatherby not too long ago and was named President in 2017.

I’m inspired by his vision, direction, and leadership with his organization and I think you guys are going to get a glimpse into what it takes to lead a generational business.

It seems to me the more that I have conversations on this podcast, the more questions I have rather than the answers I’ve been seeking. But it’s been said that the quality of your life will be determined by the quality of the questions you ask. So, when I have an opportunity to sit down with my friend, Andy Stumpf, to ask some of life’s challenging questions, it’s always a great discussion.

Today, we talk about so many different topics like taking risks (which we’ve both done with moving our families), developing resilience in our lives, and the never-ending challenges that come with raising kids.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • Managing uncertainty
  • Seeking adventure
  • Navigating risk
  • Mental toughness
  • Guiding your children
  • Voluntary hardships
  • Parental balance
  • Toxic masculinity
  • Calibration
  • Frank conversation
  • Consequences of bad decisions
  • Corporate endorsements
  • The power of social media
  • Politics
  • Doing more with less

ANDY STUMPF

My guest today is my friend, Andy Stumpf. I heard he was making a trip to Maine about a week after I got here so I reached out and scheduled a conversation on this podcast. We had a day of archery, Jiu-Jitsu, a podcast session, and finished it off with a lobster bake with our friends, Pete Roberts, and Brian Littlefield.

If you don’t know who Andy Stumpf is, he is a retired Navy SEAL, avid bow hunter, and a base jumping, wingsuit flying mad man. But, in addition to that, he’s one of the most level-headed men that I know. I think a lot of that has been developed to even out his quest for adventure.

You’re going to enjoy this one as it’s not so much of an interview but two men talking about the challenges and struggles that are part of life.

MAINE EVENT

I’m sure you’ve heard by now that we’ve got our Order of Man Maine event taking place on August 10-11, 2019, with an exclusive Iron Council dinner on the 9th.

Our entire goal for the event is to teach you the framework for success in your health, wealth, relationships, and life and, of course, introduce you to a network of men who are all achieving big things in their lives.

We’ve been making plans for the event on my property and to say that I’m extremely excited about what we’re putting together is a huge understatement. If you’re interested in learning more and locking in a seat at the table, head to www.orderofman.com/maineevent.

Someone in your life has likely wronged you in some way. Whether or not you’ve learned to forgive that individual is another question. I think we all know that learning to forgive others is a liberating practice, but that’s easier said than done.

Today, I am joined by Andrew O’Brien to talk about his quest for forgiveness. I don’t want to ruin the conversation for you, but his mother made national news when she killed Andrew’s stepfather, asked him to cover it up, and attempted to pin it on his brother. We cover why forgiveness is crucial for men, how to take the first steps, elements to include on the “forgiveness journey,” and finally finding a way to forgive.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • Walking to freedom
  • Emotional trauma
  • Anger and resentment
  • Childhood memories
  • A newfound appreciation
  • Estranged brothers
  • Holding on to animosity
  • The ultimate objective
  • Always pleasing others
  • Finding happiness in the wrong places
  • Public criticism
  • Emotional abuse
  • Bigger ambitions
  • Growing up as a victim
  • Re-engineering forgiveness

ANDREW O’BRIEN

Today I am joined by my friend, Andrew O’Brien. Andrew and I have been friends for a couple of years, but he recently told me about a journey to forgive that he has decided to take (In fact, he begins his official journey tomorrow as of the release of this podcast).

Also, as he shared part of his story with me, I couldn’t help but think how powerful this would be for the men of the Order. I know forgiveness is an issue that many men in the Facebook Group and the Iron Council bring up.

You don’t need to take notes or anything on this conversation, but please listen to Andrew’s incredible story about his mother and his path to forgiving her. I hope his discussion helps you in some way.

MAINE EVENT

Gents, I’m finally able to give you all the details you need to get up here for a meetup/event/experience on our new property in Maine. I’ve been thinking about this for the last six months (since I knew we were moving here) and I’m stoked to get you here.

It’s going to be held August 10 – 11, 2019 (and an exclusive Iron Council dinner on the 9th) and over the course of two days, I’m going to give you access to the framework and network you need to thrive in your life.

We’ll have activities designed to push and test you, presentations in each of the four quadrants we cover here in Order of Man, and opportunities to band with other like-minded men who want to achieve big things in their lives as well.

We only have 30 spots remaining so, head to www.orderofman.com/maineevent to secure your spot.

Whether he knows it or not, every man lives by a code. But without intentionality about what that code is, it’s easy to get lost in a world filled with chaos, clutter, and distraction. Unfortunately, it’s not always easy to identify the code you want to live by and consistently measure up to it.

That’s why I wanted to have a conversation with my guest today, Brady “Totanka” Cervantes. He is a former Marine Corps sniper and, more recently a professional bull rider. Today, we talk about his experience as a sniper, how it translates to civilian life, the struggles of transitioning in life, how to clear your head in chaos, and how to establish and live by a code.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • Learning perspective as a young boy
  • Finding middle ground
  • Seeking guidance from the right source
  • The importance of parental guidance
  • Living out of a truck
  • Life in the Marine Corp.
  • The impact of TBI
  • Understanding the consequences
  • Pushing past fear
  • The mental game
  • Becoming legendary
  • A level of discipline
  • One thing at a time
  • Overcoming ego
  • Dealing with your own battle

BRADY “TOTANKA” CERVANTES

My guest today is Brady “Totanka” Cervantes.

He spent nearly 10 years in the Marine Corps and, as a Scout Sniper, had several deployments throughout the world, including two deployments to Iraq and two deployments to Afghanistan.

After his military service, he began training as a lead instructor for several tactical training companies, starred in a survival TV show called Kicking & Screaming, and, more recently, riding bulls professionally with the PBR.

I met Brady several months ago at Sorinex’s SummerStrong event and as I got to know him over a couple of days, I was extremely impressed with his clarity, confidence, and level of humility. All of which we talk about in our conversation.

IRON COUNCIL

If you’ve been listening to this podcast for any amount of time, you know a little bit about our exclusive brotherhood, the Iron Council. This is a fraternity of men who are all working together to improve their lives, gain new perspectives, get accountability, and the motivation and tools they need to excel.

This month inside the Iron Council we’re talking about forging and iron-clad mindset, and one of the things we do is bring in guest experts to cover the monthly topic, do some live Q & A with, and learn. On the 28th of this month, June 2019, Commander Mark Divine will be joining our live call to discuss the tools, strategies, and skill-sets of an iron-clad mindset.

IRON COUNCIL

It’s been said that the only thing constant is change. And, if you’re anything like me, change is not easy for you. Even if we know it will be good for us, it seems to me that most men resist change. But if it’s inevitable and, in a lot of ways, constructive, we need to understand how to deal with it and actually embrace change.

That’s why inside of our exclusive brotherhood, the Iron Council, we’re talking all about change and how to harness it for a force of good in our lives and in those we have a responsibility for. We’re going to to be breaking it down weekly with understanding the nature of our relationship with change, how to take action when we are faced with an evolving set of circumstances, and how to effectively lead the people we care about through change.

If you’re ready to learn how to embrace change in your life, have some powerful discussion about it, and be challenged to take deliberate and intentional action toward growing and evolving, I invite you to band with us inside the Iron Council.

IRON COUNCIL

One of the biggest challenges men face on their journey to improve themselves is having to go at it alone. It can be done but there is something powerful to be found in banding together with other men.

And, that’s where a brotherhood of like-minded men comes into play. We call it the Iron Council and through helping thousands of men like you tap into this powerful network, we’ve seen men salvage devastated marriages, reconnect with their children in powerful ways, lose weight, gain confidence, develop clarity, and generally make themselves into stronger, tougher, better, more capable men.

We do this through our framework of communication and a proven system that is designed to push and test men in ways they may never have.

I talk with a lot of men who don’t think they can make a difference. Yes, they have big aspirations for themselves and others, but they feel like the odds are stacked against them in achieving their goals.

The reality is that just isn’t the case. And, today, I am joined by my good friend, Anthony Waite, to show you what is possible when one man puts his heart, mind, and hands into the work required to lifting others up. We talk about managing expectations, finding congruency with work and home life, avoiding burnout, and how one man can make a difference.

  • Returning from deployment
  • Managing expectations as a leader
  • The importance of a father figure
  • Cutting ties
  • Finding truth in your current reality
  • Self-reflection
  • Physical and mental challenges
  • The power in forgiveness
  • Accepting responsibility
  • Answering the question “why me?”
  • How to be a R.E.A.L. success
  • Saying yes to opportunity

ANTHONY WAITE

Gents, today I am joined by my good friend and someone who has been with us inside the Iron Council for the last three years.

He is an officer in the Navy and, as you’ll hear in our conversation, a man who is extremely impactful not only in his career but in his community as well. I’ve been so impressed with this man’s growth over the past several years and as much as he’s learned from and been inspired by the Order of Man mission, I’ve been inspired and uplifted by him.

This is the caliber of men we have in the Iron Council. I’m honored to be able to introduce him to you.

IRON COUNCIL

Needless to say, based on this conversation today, the Iron Council is a powerful tool and resource in the lives of Anthony and hundreds more.

These are the types of men you can expect to find inside our exclusive brotherhood – men who don’t necessarily have everything figured out but men who are on the path to improving themselves in every capacity.

And, as powerful as a transformation story as Anthony’s is, there are hundreds of other stories of self-improvement from men who are harnessing the power of a band of brothers inside the Iron Council.

All of us are building a brand at any given point regardless of if we’re intentional about it or not. Whether you’re trying to convince your kids to do their chores, get that lady to go on a date with you, secure a promotion with your boss, or solicit clients to do business with you, your credibility and influence spell the difference between success and failure.

Today I am joined by a man uniquely qualified to discuss this topic as he’s been a major player in Monster’s branding and marketing and eventually working closely with the UFC to sponsor fighters. His name is Hans Molenkamp and in this conversation, we talk about what it means to be influential, how to develop powerful relationships, the power of exploring many different areas of interest, and, ultimately, how to become a brand builder.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • Representing combat sports and athletic teams
  • A marketing gun for hire
  • Monster Energy Drink
  • Transitioning from action sports to MMA
  • Triumph United becomes a global brand
  • What it takes to build a brand
  • Helping others develop their plan
  • The importance of networking
  • Creating synergy
  • Developing content that works
  • Identifying stardom
  • Walking the line of friendship and business
  • Positive mental attitude
  • Overcoming monotony

HANS MOLENKAMP

Gents, today I am joined by a fascinating individual. His name is Hans Molenkamp and he’s a bit of a modern renaissance man in that he explores so many unique interest and activities from photography to skateboarding to surfing to marketing to mixed martial arts.

He’s arguably one of the most influential people connected with the UFC and, if you follow his Instagram page, you’ll see he’s connected with guys like Rampage, Conor McGregor, and just about everyone in between.

He initially got his start in marketing and branding in the mid-’90s with Osiris shoes then on to a key component of Monster’s marketing and branding division and eventually becoming a liaison of sorts between Monster, professional fighters, and the UFC.

And, today, he’s here to share his story from humble beginnings to go on to work with some of the most elite athletes in the world.

IRON COUNCIL

As I was flying home from Sorinex’s SummerStrong event, the plane started to bob up and down. As we dealt with the turbulence, I could feel the pilot making corrections in altitude and direction to navigate us out of the clouds. And, as he did, I couldn’t help but think of his team on the ground directing him to safer, smoother paths.

I share that with you because everywhere you look, you can see the value in having a powerful team to direct you throughout the course of your life. Yeah, you could go at it alone but why deal with all the turbulence of life if there is someone there to support you, back you up, and light the better path?

That’s the power of the Iron Council, our exclusive brotherhood of men working together to chart their own paths and learn how to navigate the pressure and turbulence this life has to offer.

If you’re ready to be part of a team, a band of brothers if you will, who are doing big things in their lives and want to help you do the same, join us at www.orderofman.com/ironcouncil

Everyone knows the adage, “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.” And, as overly-simplistic as it may be, there is a lot of truth to that for a lot of different reasons.

Today, I am joined by Ken Coleman, author of the Proximity Principle to talk about how true that statement is and to break it down for us even further We talk about finding the right people and being in the right places, overcoming the limiting beliefs fueled by pride and fear, building an expansive web of the right connections, and how to utilize the “Proximity Principle” to get ahead.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • Our intrinsic need to provide
  • Passion versus provision
  • The emotional journey
  • Bone-crushing doubt
  • Weathering the storms of life
  • The Discovery Process
  • Applying the Proximity Effect
  • Stepping into objectivity
  • Silencing fear
  • Finding the right people
  • The value of humility
  • The first bold step

KEN COLEMAN

Now, I’ll admit, I hadn’t been familiar with his work until Ramsey Solutions reached out to me about his new book, Proximity Principle, but after doing some research and learning more about him, I truly understand how well this guy knows his stuff and how powerful a resource he can be for any man who is trying to get ahead in his career and build something meaningful and significant in his life.

Ken is an author, a career expert, and a member of Ramsey Solutions where he frequently co-hosts the Dave Ramsey Show.

I really enjoyed this conversation and I have no doubt you will too. And, more importantly, I know you’ll get a ton out of it.

IRON COUNCIL

Gents, let me talk with you about the “Wild Man” for a minute. The Wild Man is the man inside that we’ve either silenced or allowed society to silence for far too long.

And, it’s the part of us that we need to learn to let out of the cage more often. He is our competitive, aggressive, dominant, and wild nature and, in the right circumstances and context can be used as a powerful force for growth and expansion in our lives. But, most of us have allowed ourselves to be domesticated for too long and have shut down the very elements that give us a competitive advantage.

That’s why we’re talking about the Wild Man inside our exclusive brotherhood, the Iron Council this month. We’re discovering how to acknowledge, explore, and unlock him within ourselves and tap back into the masculine roots we’ve bound and chained at the systematic conditioning of society.

And, on top of the discussions, we’re challenging ourselves (500 men) to push harder and further than we have for years with the goal of accomplishing huge things in our lives.

If you want to join the discussion and the challenge, band with us at www.orderofman.com/ironcouncil.
