If you didn’t believe in the inherent value of masculinity, you wouldn’t be here listening to this podcast. But you are so I know that you believe in the message to reclaim and restore masculinity in a world that has been constantly distorting what it means to be a man, undermining the value men bring to society, and signing masculinity off as a socially constructed and antiquated behavior of men.

That’s why the conversation I have with repeat guest, Stephen Mansfield is so crucial. He has been championing noble manhood for years and I could not be more honored than to call him a friend.

Today, we talk about the culture of men, the critical importance of a man’s legacy, the fire of heritage, rituals, a man’s warrior spirit, and why we must all fight to forge noble manhood.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • Learning family heritage
  • The traditional family
  • Community obligations
  • Informal mentorship
  • The lore of manhood
  • The fire of God
  • Male authority
  • Building woman up
  • Searching for answers
  • Taking on ridicule
  • Virtues of a warrior
  • The duplicity of life
  • Stepping into manhood

STEPHEN MANSFIELD

My guest today is my good friend and repeat guest, Stephen Mansfield. As I said previously, he has been a champion of noble manhood for years and has been a huge support and advocate for what we’re doing here at Order of Man. In fact, he was gracious enough to write a powerful testimony for my book, Sovereignty: The Battle for the Hearts and Minds of Men.

Stephen is a political commentator, founder of Greatmen.tv, and New York Times Bestselling author and has written many incredible books including, Mansfield’s Book of Manly Men, Building Your Band of Brothers, and his latest (which he is here to talk with us about today), Men on Fire.

LEGACY

Fathers, on September 3rd-6th we’re going to be hosting our first-ever Legacy experience in Maine.

You and your son (between the ages of 8-15) are going to come to my property to be pushed to the max physically, mentally, and emotionally. And, all of it is designed to equip you and your boy with the tools needed to thrive in the crazy world in which we live.

If you’re anything like me, ensuring your son becomes the man he is capable of becoming is what keeps you at night more than anything else. And, when you come to the Legacy experience on September 3rd-6th, you’re going to be working alongside me and my boys and 19 other fathers/sons to ensure you have everything you need to help your boy become a man.

If you want to learn more and lock in your spot, go to www.orderofman.com/legacy.

The act of creation is something we have a desire to do but just because we desire to create doesn’t make it any easier. In fact, creating and putting your work into the world for others to judge is one of the most challenging things a human can do. There are a lot of reasons for this but ultimately it boils down to what my guest today calls, “resistance.”

I’m honored to be joined by someone I’ve admired and respected for a very long time, Mr. Steven Pressfield, and today we talk about what “resistance” actually is and how it manifests itself differently in people’s lives. We also talk about the arrogance of planning, the culture of virtue, identifying the “soul’s code,” why work can be like war, and how to equip yourself for it.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • The voices in your head
  • Putting in the work
  • Improving over time
  • Making better mistakes
  • Working the problem
  • Defining professionalism
  • The amateur mindset
  • Going through a process
  • Finding your calling
  • Playing the long game
  • The artists' journey
  • Infallible wisdom
  • A culture of virtue

STEVEN PRESSFIELD

My guest today is the one and only Steven Pressfield.

Needless to say, many of you are already familiar with at least some of his work, including The War of Art, Do the Work, The Warrior Ethos, and Gates of Fire.

But what a lot of you may not know is that Steven wrote for 27 years before his first novel, The Legend of Bagger Vance, was published. So, obviously, he knows a thing or two about putting in the work and overcoming resistance in all of its forms.

Since then, he’s gone on to sell millions of copies of his books and has become one of the most influential figures in fighting through challenging times, paying your dues, and teaching others how to succeed as creators.

Gents, this one is such a powerful conversation. I hope you enjoy it.

MAINE EVENT

Last week, I talked with you about the Legacy Event which is for fathers and sons but this week I wanted to share our next event, Maine Event, which will be held October 9th-11th with an exclusive Iron Council dinner the evening of the 8th.

Over a period of two days, you’ll work alongside 100 other motivated, ambitious men to create a Battle Plan that will help you roll into 2021 in full stride and ready to seize all that the new year has to offer you.

You’re going to get one-one coaching, group accountability, camaraderie, and the type of conversations and insights that most men just don’t get in their day-to-day activities.

We only have six spots remaining so if you’re even remotely interested, please head to www.orderofman.com/maineevent as quickly as possible to lock in one of the last seats to this incredible experience.

Again, head to www.orderofman.com/maineevent, to learn more and claim your seat.

Building a business is something I think every man should look into and, while not every man is cut out for the entrepreneurial life, self-employment provides benefits that shouldn’t be overlooked – the flexibility of schedule, the pursuit of passion, and unlimited income potential.

But with all that goes into successfully running a business, starting your own can seem like a daunting, if not impossible, endeavor. Today, I am joined by my friend and serial entrepreneur, Ryan Moran. He is the founder of Capitalism.com and the author of 12 Months to $1 Million. We talk about choosing a winning product, the mindset for building a business, how to stack the deck in your favor, aligning your interest with business growth, and the true purpose of money.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • Opening a new chapter
  • An expensive use of energy
  • Growth is pain
  • Improving in the present
  • Creating a meaningful impact
  • Diminishing returns
  • Creating value for others
  • Serving the right people
  • The twelve-month roadmap
  • Building your infrastructure
  • Earning trust first
  • Predictable growth
  • How to get funding
  • Conflicting values

RYAN DANIEL MORAN

My guest today is my good friend and serial entrepreneur, Ryan Moran. He is the founder of Capitalism.com and the author of 12 Months to $1,000,000.

He is also an investor and owns multiple businesses that generate millions of dollars in revenue. And, he has personally helped create over 100 millionaires using the strategies he teaches. In fact, many of the strategies Ryan teaches are the strategies I’ve used to grow Order of Man into what it is today.

Despite his tremendous success, Ryan is extremely down to earth and has a passion for helping other people realize their own dreams through free markets and building passionate, profitable businesses.

LEGACY

Coming off of Father’s Day weekend, I wanted to again let you know about our first-ever Legacy Experience in Maine.

This is a 3 ½ father/son event designed to forge deeper bonds between you and your son, equip you both with the tools, frameworks, and resources you need to thrive, and build up the fortitude and resilience needed to succeed in an insane world.

We’re going to be doing some airsoft, Jiu-Jitsu, hiking, firesides, planning sessions, and some other challenging surprises that you and your son will be talking about for the rest of your life.

If you have a son, nephew, mentee, etc. between the ages of 8-15, I want to invite you to join us September 3rd-6th, 2020 on my property in Maine. You can learn more and register at www.ordeofman.com/legacy.

It’s no secret that I’m a huge proponent of Jiu-Jitsu. In fact, I’m sure you guys get sick of me talking about it on the podcast so much. But I do because over the past year and a half, I’ve come to find immense value in the practice and seen the benefits (sometimes hidden) of what it offers.

My guest today is someone who I’ve been following for quite some time. His name is Nick Albin “Chewy” and he’s a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blackbelt. Today we discuss, the masochistic nature of Jiu-Jitsu, personal responsibility in training, dialing the intensity of your training both up and down, how Jiu-Jitsu can serve as a therapy session of sorts, and the hidden value of the discipline.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • Getting into Jiu-Jitsu
  • Dealing with pain
  • Your worst enemy
  • Good training partners
  • Intentional training
  • Prioritizing your routine
  • Training too little
  • Strengthening your body
  • Being ultra-competitive
  • Rolling with students
  • How warriors train
  • Going for the kill
  • Seeing different sides
  • Losing the fear
  • Finding a good gym

NICK ALBIN “CHEWY”

My guest today is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blackbelt, Nick Albin (affectionately referred to as Chewy). I came across his work as I was studying, learning, and researching Jiu-Jitsu.

He’s got an incredible YouTube channel (Chewjitsu) filled with ideas, strategies, insights, tactics, and mindsets for improving your game. And, he’s been indirectly instrumental in helping me improve my game as I dive deeper down the rabbit hole of something that has become a critical part of my week and life.

LEGACY

This message is for fathers with a son(s) between the ages of 8 -15. I know that Father’s Day is coming up this weekend and it’s likely that you’ll be getting an ugly tie and/or some homemade arts and crafts.

That’s all fine and great but you know as a father that giving is better than getting. So, if you’re looking to give your son(s) an experience they’ll never forget, consider joining us at our first-ever Legacy Experience in Maine.

This is a 3 ½ day event designed to forge tighter bonds with you and your boy and give both him and you the tools, resources, frameworks, and mindset to thrive, as men, in challenging and uncertain times.

You’re both going to be pushed physically, mentally, and emotionally but you’re going to leave with a better relationship and the skills you need to usher your son into manhood.

The event is going to be held September 3rd – 6th and we only have 5 spots remaining. Learn more and lock in your spot at www.orderofman.com/legacy.

Politics is just something we don’t talk a whole lot about in the Order of Man movement. I think it’s clear why. Masculinity isn’t reserved for one side of the political aisle but I do believe there are some underlying principles of masculinity (and the betterment of society) that tend to be politicized.

And, so, I’ve rejected the notion of talking about politics or being even remotely political but it’s clear to me that these are conversations that need to be had. And, I can think of no better person to talk with us about it today than Sean Parnell, an Army Ranger veteran, New York Times Bestselling Author, and candidate for Congress. Today we talk about servant leadership, the American Dream, trust, power grabs, and men in politics.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • Being a warrior
  • Learning lessons
  • Servant leadership
  • Finding the right answer
  • Dirty politics
  • Raising campaign money
  • Voting in leaders
  • When tribalism wins
  • Cultural shifts
  • Political systems
  • Defending freedom
  • Coming home from war
  • Economic fallout
  • Common sense thinking
  • Personal responsibility
  • Showing gratitude
  • Delivering justice

SEAN PARNELL

My guest today is Sean Parnell. He served as an Army Ranger with the 10th Mountain Division. His platoon, nicknamed “Outlaw Platoon” killed over 350 enemy fighters in some of the biggest firefights in the Afghan war.

Upon returning to the states and after serious injuries (including neurological injuries), Sean was medically discharged from the military. He went on to write his New York Times Bestselling book, Outlaw Platoon, and is now a regular contributor on Fox as well as appearances on CNN, MSNBC, and many others.

He is also the co-founder of the American Warrior Initiative and has since thrown his hat in the ring of politics and is running for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District.

All of us have fallen behind or gotten off track somewhere in our lives (some more than others). Only some decide to get back on track and take control of their lives – to redeem themselves if you will. And, who doesn’t respect the hell out of a man who has hit rock bottom and risen from the ashes?

That’s why I wanted to invite Wes Watson on the podcast. He’s arguably one of the most influential men I’ve had the honor of talking with because of his no-BS, straight-talking approach to improving your life. Today we talked about Wes’ 10-year prison sentence, the power of gratitude in dire circumstances, overcoming regret and shame, developing a new stream of consciousness, and how to build your own redemption story.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • Cognitive dissonance
  • Running from pain
  • Personal growth
  • External distractions
  • Levering emotional motivation
  • Giving yourself away
  • Bringing worth to life
  • Creating daily systems
  • Regret is your guideline
  • Shifting your mindset
  • Another chance at life
  • Sharing your F*ck-ups
  • Re-writing books
  • Managing negative energy
  • Positive mental attitude
  • Elevating yourself
  • Living out of an abundance

WES WATSON

My guest today is Wes Watson, strength and fitness coach, but he’s so much more than that. Wes simply uses health and fitness as a medium for transforming your mind and your life.

Wes spent 10-years in prison and was quickly spiraling into a life of chaos and destruction but while serving his prison sentence, he began to transform his life through the power of his thoughts and daily actions.

After being released from prison, Wes has become one of the most powerful voices in self-development, has built a massively successful business, and has inspired thousands of people to transform their own lives through his mentorship and coaching.

You’re going to hear in this conversation why I wanted Wes to join us as the fire he brings can’t help but motivate and inspire you to get your life on track.

IRON COUNCIL

Gents, we’re rapidly approaching father’s day and, as we do, it was important to me that inside of the Iron Council we have a discussion about redeeming the relationship with our fathers.

Regardless of your relationship with your father, it’s likely that some conversations have been left unsaid and there is a strain between you and him. And, regardless of your ability/desire to reconcile with your father, there are steps you can take to come to terms with the relationship that you have with him so you can drive on in your own life with clarity, focus, direction, and purpose as a man.

These aren’t comfortable conversations, challenges, and discussions we’re having inside the Iron Council this month but they’re completely necessary if you want to break the chains that may have been holding you back from becoming the man you’re wanting to become – not the boy in his father’s shadow.

If you’re ready to have these conversations, challenges, accountably, brotherhood, and more, join us at www.orderofman.com/ironcouncil.

Gentlemen, my guest today is 4-time CrossFit Games Champion, Mat Fraser. I’ve always been fascinated with what makes some of the most successful men on the planet tick. That fascination became the foundation for this podcast and I can’t tell you how honored I am to have this man, Mat Fraser, - someone I’ve admired and respected for years - join us to talk about his unusual and extraordinary effort and work ethic.

We talk about his background in Olympic Weightlifting, building self-sufficiency, the need for sacrifice and singular focus, how to establish your core values and rules for life, the power of obsession, and ultimately, his path to becoming the Fittest Man on Earth.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • Training at home
  • Online competition
  • Risks in CrossFit
  • Hitting your goals
  • An Olympic hopeful
  • A level of sacrifice
  • Putting in the work
  • Keeping things simple
  • Finding satisfaction
  • Measuring success
  • Daily motivation
  • Chasing gratification
  • Identifying values in life
  • Living a simple life
  • Establishing rule to life
  • External pressure

MAT FRASER

My guest today is 4-time CrossFit Games Champion, Mat Fraser. In an ultra-competitive environment, he has found a way to apply himself and achieve insane amounts of work ethic and drive to become the best in his field – for years!

He comes from an Olympic Weightlifting background had planned on going that route until he suffered a back injury in 2009 before shifting his focus to CrossFit.

Most of you are probably familiar to some degree with Mat and I’ve been following him for years now but I was surprised at his level of humility. In fact, he’s probably one of the most down-to-earth men I’ve had on this podcast in spite of his tremendous level of success and accomplishment.

I hope that you enjoy listening to our conversation as much as I enjoyed having it.

IRON COUNCIL.

Gentlemen, I know that last week I told you about this month’s topic inside the Iron Council but I thought I’d bring it up again because, after the first week of our discussions and challenges, it is apparent how important the relationship is between a man and his father.

And, it’s apparent that many of us men have estranged relationships with our dad. This is unfortunate since most of us have learned (for better or worse) how to show up as a man from our fathers.

When you band with us in the Iron Council, you’ll be able to join in on these powerful conversations and participate in the challenges designed to push you into the deep end of your past, your potential, and the narratives you consciously or subconsciously lived your life by.

If you’re ready to make a change and step into the man you’re capable of becoming, join us at www.orderofman.com/ironcouncil.

Guys, I’ve got a great one lined up with you today with the one and only, Mat Best with Black Rifle Coffee Company. We do things a little different as we answer some live YouTube questions but we cover everything from learning to focus on what’s important, building confidence through creation, overcoming introversion, finding something that drives you, dealing with rejection, the power of different perspectives, and learning to become your own man.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • Crushing your goals
  • Staying focused
  • Family time
  • Being better than average
  • Developing confidence
  • Prioritizing family
  • Going against the grain
  • Investing in yourself
  • Creating positivity
  • Putting in the work
  • Hating failure
  • Keys to success
  • Manufacturing hardship
  • Embarrassing moments
  • Figuring things out
  • Planning out your day
  • Creating your environment

MAT BEST

My guest today is Mat Best and he is the co-founder of Black Rifle Coffee Company. Every time I have the opportunity to talk with Mat, I walk away thinking how down to earth this guy is in the face of some incredible accomplishments.

He is a former Army Ranger, successful entrepreneur, and New York Times Bestselling author of Thank You For My Service. And, he’s someone who has figured out what makes him happy, what he’s passionate about, and learned to go all-in on that pursuit.

IRON COUNCIL

This month, inside the Iron Council, has the potential to become the toughest, most engaging, challenging months we’ve had since we launched 5 years.

The title of this month’s topic is “The Father/Son Atonement” and we’re going to be discussing and working towards bridging the gap between fathers and their sons. It’s clear to me that the lack of fatherhood is a real problem in modern culture and after having one of my YouTube videos go viral (over 1,300,000 views) on the subject of fatherhood, this is clearly a topic that needs to be addressed.

If you decide to band with us this month, you’ll get access to the assignment, a Battle Team of 14 other men who will help hold you accountable to change and progress, and the challenges we issue that are going to push you further past your comfort zone then you’ve ever gone.

But that’s where the real change takes place and this is exactly where you’re going to want to be if you’re ready to expand.

Fear is something every single one of us deals with (probably on a daily basis). Unfortunately, too many men consciously or unconsciously allow fear to keep them from going after what they want most. So, how can you use fear to your advantage as opposed to a hindrance?

That’s exactly what I talk about today with my guest Akshay Nanavati, the author of Fearvana: How to Turn Fear into Health, Wealth, and Happiness. We cover the critical importance of becoming aware and accepting fear, flawed mental health, the idea that there are no “bad” or “negative” emotions, why you need to learn to explore the edges of life, and how to make fear your ally.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • Confronting the fear of stillness
  • Breaking sobriety
  • Staying in the fight
  • Running marathons
  • Serving the greater good
  • Self-destructive behavior
  • Seeking out suffering
  • Reframe Your Experiences
  • Researching neuroscience
  • Taking it to the next level
  • Self-fulfilling prophecy
  • Norman human response
  • Experiencing diversity
  • It’s about the struggle
  • Seek out new problems
  • Owning your reality

AKSHAY NANAVATI

My guest today is a fascinating man. His name is Akshay Nanavati and he is a Marine veteran, speaker, entrepreneur, ultra-runner, and author of the book, Fearvana.

He’s overcome so much including a drug addiction after his service, a blood disorder that doctors told him could kill him in boot camp, and combat where his job was to walk in front of vehicles to find IED’s.

He’s dealt with PTSD, survivor’s guilt, alcoholism, and depression, and, after all of that, has somehow found the power to overcome all of it and live a life of fulfillment and adventure as a skydiver, mountain biker, scuba diver, and rock/ice climber.

Men, you’re definitely going to enjoy this conversation and use what Akshay teaches as fuel to light your own fire.

IRON COUNCIL.

Men, the Iron Council continues to grow as more and more men are seeing the power of what we’re doing by banding with other men who are willing to hold each other accountable to accomplishing the most out of their lives.

We just had Jack Donovan join us for one of our exclusive Iron Council sessions and we’re in the process of bringing on more incredible men to join us for our weekly calls.

In addition to that, we’re going to give you the framework and network to transform your life from what you’ve always wanted to what you’re actually experiencing. And, that is our whole objective – to bridge the gap between what you know you should be doing and what you’re actually doing.
