As men, we’re hardwired to look for problems we see with the environment around us. Unfortunately, too few of us are willing to take the next step and do something about the issues we identify.

My guest today is not that kind of man. His name is Ian Wendt and he’s taking a stand against some of the most polarizing social issues of the day. Today, Ian and I talk about overcoming the opinions of others, when to compromise and when not to, how excellence is the ultimate rebellion, how a man ought to show up in his community, and, ultimately, becoming a man of conviction.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Why talk about cultural and societal issues
  • Who is trying to divide us?
  • The ultimate agenda of evil is to take away freedom
  • I’ll respect your freedom, you respect mine
  • Have we compromised too much?
  • Many people feel the same way but are afraid to speak up
  • Our abundance is our challenge
  • Don’t give people power over you
  • How men can influence culture
  • Stack little wins every day

Pornography is something that negatively impacts millions of men on a daily basis. And, yet, so few of us know what really goes on behind the scenes of the adult entertainment industry. We hear whisperings of the shadiness and degeneracy, but it continues to permeate just about every fabric of society.

My guest today is Joshua Broome. He is a former adult film star and even named porn star of the year. He spent 6 years in the industry, before fleeing to find himself, warn others about the dangers of pornography, and the message of Christ. Today, we talk about the manipulation that takes place in the porn industry, overcoming the tremendous guilt from poor decisions, how obedience and discipline create freedom, owning your past, lust versus love, and eliminating “contaminants” from our lives.

Anger issues are something a lot of us, as men, deal with – more than would like to admit. And, while most of us are pretty good at disguising our anger, frustration, and resentment, all too often, it’s lying just under the surface ready to expose itself to some unexpecting victim – usually the ones we love most.

I’m joined by my friend, Connor Beaton, author of his newest book Men’s Work: A Practical Guide to Face Your Darkness, End Self-Sabotage, and Find Freedom. Today, we discuss what he calls “dysregulated” or erratic behavior and how to reign it in, overcoming the shadow of our fathers, the danger of self-abusive relationships, and why and how we need to become acquainted with our anger.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS:

  • How to get the most out of yourself
  • We are often the ones standing in our own way
  • Understanding your anger
  • Its ok to take care of yourself
  • We don’t need to try to solve people’s problems
  • Building a healthy relationship with Anger
  • What is hidden in the father will be revealed in the son
  • You can’t be a rock when you are searching for the approval of others
  • Men must develop the skill of self-validation
  • The role of God and faith
  • Four steps for working through anger
