I know on the surface the title of this podcast may seem a bit far-fetched but I can assure you that what my guest today, Mike Ritland, and I cover regarding dog handling and training can make you a better man if you apply it.

I don’t want to make the comparison of humans and animals (clearly, there are huge differences) but there is a ton of psychology that goes into effectively training dogs that can be directly applied to our approach as men like developing patience, looking for feedback, adhering to first or foundational principles, how we can communicate effectively. We also get into some other topics regarding our current cultural crisis, politics, and our job as fathers.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • Sheltering our youth
  • Living with consequences
  • Micromanagement
  • Learning from your mistakes
  • Training dogs through repetition
  • Shaping behavior
  • Rewarding your dog
  • Socialization
  • Training with "Dog Men"
  • The Dog Warrior Foundation

MIKE RITLAND

My guest today is a former Navy SEAL and the founder of Team Dog Online Training, Mike Ritland.

He’s also a New York Times Bestselling author of three books: Trident K9 Warriors, Navy SEAL Dogs, and TEAM Dog. In addition, he is the host of the wildly popular podcast, Mike Drop.

Mike is a fascinating human being never at a loss of an opinion on the current culture, how to train dogs, and generally how to become a better, more capable human being.
